Anna's Bio

Anna Swiecichowski practices in the Litigation and Appellate practice groups at FMJ, representing corporate and individual clients in all aspects of commercial litigation, employment litigation, and appeals. Anna brings a strong background of business experience, persuasive writing, and oral advocacy to each case, efficiently and effectively representing clients at every stage of the litigation process.

Anna has obtained successful outcomes for her clients as the first-chair attorney in court and jury trials. Anna also has extensive experience with state and federal appeals, arguing before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and drafting appellate briefs for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Supreme Court, and the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Anna was previously an adjunct professor at the University Minnesota Law School, teaching appellate advocacy to students competing on the American Bar Association National Moot Court competition team.

Prior to attending law school, Anna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts: Journalism, with a minor in Business Administration, at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to her coursework, Anna advised business owners on achieving their current and future goals by analyzing each business’s corporate structure, financial development, and expansion strategies.

  • Allstate Indem. Co. v. Twin Cities Diagnostic Ctr. L.L.C., A21-1116, Minnesota Supreme Court, August 23, 2022, successfully obtained the Court’s grant of a petition for review in case involving the Minnesota Corporate Practice of Medicine Doctrine.
  • In re The Robert Preus and Donna Mae Preus Lake Property Family Trust, A21-0633, Minnesota Supreme Court, March 15, 2022, successfully defended against a petition for review of the appellate court decision in case involving dispute between trust beneficiaries and trustees.

Minnesota Court of Appeals

  • In re The Robert Preus and Donna Mae Preus Lake Property Family Trust, A21-0633, Minnesota Court of Appeals, December 20, 2021, successfully defended an appeal where the Court affirmed the trial court’s judgment in favor of trust beneficiaries, finding the trial court did not err in its analysis and removal of trustee following bench trial.
  • Pilot Air Freight LLC v. Adam Trenberth, et al, A21-0058, Minnesota Court of Appeals, September 7, 2021, successfully brought an appeal where the Court reversed the trial court’s grant of temporary injunction restraining employee from continuing in his employment with his new employer, finding the trial court abused its discretion by issuing the temporary injunction.

District Court

  • Cory Carlson, Jennifer Carlson, and Lucky 7 Incorporated v. Chad Thurmer, Miranda Thurmer, Sweet November Incorporated, and Lucky 7 Outdoors, LLC, 30-CV-23-306, Isanti County District Court, February 4, 2025, successfully obtained $1.27M verdict for client following a seven-day jury trial regarding the sale of a business.
  • VH-Minneapolis South, Inc. v. Akaashaman, LLC, 27-CV-20-12600, Hennepin County District Court, May 14, 2024, successfully obtained a six-figure money judgment, as well as an award of attorney’s fees and costs, in favor of client following a court trial regarding plaintiff’s claim for the breach of an easement and operating agreement.
  • Center for Organizational Management, Inc. v. Contact Lens Society of America, Inc., 82-CV-20-409, Washington County District Court, September 8, 2022, successfully obtained the dismissal of plaintiff’s claim for breach of contract and $480,000 in alleged damages following court trial.
  • Khal Aloul, et al v. Assad Awaijane, et al, 27-CV-20-1389, Hennepin County District Court, May 9, 2022, successfully obtained a money judgment in favor of client following court trial regarding the purchase and operation of a local tobacco store.
  • Elior, Inc. v. Southwest Foodservice Excellence, LLC, 27-CV-22-1684, Hennepin County District Court, April 6, 2022, successfully obtained a temporary injunction against former employee.

Outside of the office, Anna and her husband enjoy traveling to new places, meeting new people, and trying new foods. Anna also enjoys training and competing in American and International style ballroom dancing, recently competing in Minnesota and Las Vegas.
