Joshua's Bio

Josh is an Associate in the Trusts & Estates practice group at FMJ. He has experience working with individuals, couples, families, and non-traditional and blended families in a variety of situations that require long-term planning. Specifically, Josh assists his clients with estate planning, business succession planning, charitable planning, elder law, and estate and trust administration matters.

He utilizes storytelling and his own experiences to make estate and long-term planning more accessible and less intimidating. Josh treats his clients as if they were his own family by communicating transparently, openly, and directly. Not only does this allow Josh to help his clients through difficult and complex situations, it also allows his clients to make educated and empowered decisions for their families and loved ones. He enjoys helping to provide his clients with the tools they need to make the right decisions for their circumstances. Josh has also been invited to present on estate planning topics at churches, senior living communities, community education programs, and libraries, and he is willing to speak upon request.

Prior to joining FMJ, Josh was a practicing estate planning and elder law attorney at other law firms in the metro area. He currently serves on the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Elder Law Governing Council and volunteers for the Wills for Heroes program, which provides estate planning services to first responders.

“My approach is to educate and empower. I want the client to understand not only the process but how our conversations and decisions are reflected in their estate planning documents. A thorough understanding allows for clearer decision-making and, ultimately, a more tailored plan.”

Outside of the office, Josh can be found at local ice arenas. He is a huge Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Gopher hockey fan as his family has had season tickets to Mariucci since he was a child. He grew up playing hockey in Delano, Minnesota, and has continued to stay connected to the sport by coaching with the Delano Area Youth Hockey Association (most recently as the Peewee A coach). If he is not on the ice, he enjoys paddling the local lakes and rivers or spending time at his family’s cabin in Ely, Minnesota.
