Jim Seifert, head of FMJ’s Manufacturing practice group, is featured in the December/January 2022 edition of Twin Cities Business magazine. The article, titled “Finding Legal Pathways Through the Pandemic,” explores various legal issues that have emerged as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, including lease disputes, vaccine requirements, and supply chain issues.
Jim discusses the supply chain issues from a manufacturer’s perspective.
“A typical supply chain problem is caused by a single point of failure. As a consequence of ‘just in time manufacturing’ — which is extremely valuable if all the required suppliers can perform — if just one supplier fails to provide the required component part just in time, the finished product cannot be made. Even if the product is simple and in short supply, such as fasteners or specialty glues, these products have caused assembly lines to stop.”
