On May 5, the women of Fafinski Mark & Johnson hosted “FMJ Uncorked: A Night of Women, Wine and Wisdom,” a women-only networking event that attorneys Shannon McDonough and Heidi Carpenter have been spearheading for several years.
More than 100 women gathered for words of wisdom from Angie Bastian, the founder of BOOMCHICKAPOP, who shared how she started her incredibly successful popcorn business.
Angie recounted the story of how she and her husband decided to start a small kettle corn business to do something fun with their kids while also showing them the value of hard work. Her husband eventually quit his job as a Spanish teacher and Angie quit her job as a nurse practitioner, and they took their business to the next level. They sold their popcorn at local events and eventually caught the attention of The Minnesota Vikings — a game changer for BOOMCHICKAPOP. The company quickly went from a local sensation to one of the fastest-growing natural popcorn brands in America, sold in natural food, grocery, club and mass retail stores nationwide.
