2020 was a year of challenges and changes. Amid these challenges and changes, our Mergers & Acquisitions, Real Estate, Banking & Financial Institutions, and General Corporate & Business practice groups were fortunate to work with our clients as trusted advisors to guide them through any of their needs with mergers, acquisitions, financings, real estate, and other transactions. From consulting with clients to leading a team of investment bankers, accountants, and advisors, FMJ worked diligently to achieve our clients desired results.
We closed over 75 transactions in 2020 and hired a new associate Rob Tunheim to continue to build our Corporate practice group’s bench strength. Below is a sampling of some of our biggest transactions from last year.
- Represented a real estate development and investment company in the closing of a ground lease, development approvals, construction financing, and sale of the ground lessor interest within a period of 9 months.
- Represented a portfolio of family-owned real estate holding companies in a multi-million dollar portfolio loan/refinancing secured by 10 commercial properties in Minnesota and 1 property in Wisconsin.
- Represented a global provider of preclinical, translational, and clinical-phase contract research services in its sale to a leading European laboratory services business.
- Represented a real estate holding company in the purchase of a five-building business park in a suburb of Minneapolis.
- Represented a leading aviation wholesale distributor of equipment and supplies based in Miami, Florida in its purchase of an international flight training academy from a multinational airline headquartered in Japan.
- Represented an actuary services company in its sale to a leading insurance brokerage and consulting company.
- Represented a developer of multi-family residential properties in the formation of several development joint ventures, the closing of real estate acquisitions for development, and the closing of construction financing facilities.
- Represented an online data research platform used for fantasy sports in its sale to a leading fantasy sports and online gaming company.
- Represented a commercial printer in the sale of substantially all of its business assets to a direct marketing and print manufacturing provider.
- Represented a multi-location power equipment dealer in its acquisition of a new dealership and associated real estate.
- Represented a real estate developer and investor in the lease, subdivision, and sale of real estate for purposes of the development of an industrial material facility.
