Lorie focuses her practice at Fafinski Mark & Johnson in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors rights, representing creditors and financial institutions in a variety of bankruptcy matters.
Lorie has represented several committees of unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcies in Minnesota, the largest of which including the cases of Petters Group Worldwide, Inc., and Sheldahl, Inc. In connection with her representation of unsecured creditor committees, she commenced over 100 avoidance actions resulting in significant recovery for unsecured creditors. She regularly handles Chapter 11 reorganizations and liquidations.
Lorie is also experienced in landlord/tenant law, contract law, land use law, and other business litigation. She has pursued eminent domain actions and appeals on behalf of the condemnor, including the successful representation of an electrical cooperative association in Lundell v. Cooperative Power Ass'n, 707 N.W.2d 376 (Minn. 2006), in which the landowner challenged the association’s public purpose, among other things.
Lorie was a law clerk for the Honorable R.A. (Jim) Randall and the Honorable Thomas J. Kalitowski at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She also clerked for a district court judge in Dakota County, Minnesota. Lorie is a cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.
Lorie was named a "Rising Star" by Minnesota Law & Politics.
