Liz Johnson practices primarily in the area of bankruptcy and insolvency. She received her undergraduate degree in art history from Clarke College, where she was the valedictorian of her graduating class. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor with distinction from The University of Iowa College of Law. Liz worked as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Judge Paul J. Kilburg of the United States Bankruptcy Court. She also volunteered with Iowa Legal Aid’s Pro Se Bankruptcy Clinic, helping lower income individuals file Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions.
Before joining Fafinski Mark & Johnson, Liz was a Clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Thad Collins of the United States Bankruptcy Court. She also worked for the Iowa Department of Revenue. With FMJ, Liz is a part of the group representing the unsecured creditors committee in the bankruptcies of Petters Company, Inc. and its related debtors.

As a contemporary arts and theatre patron, Liz is thrilled to be in the Twin Cities, where so much new art creation is happening. Liz particularly enjoys public art projects and intermedia art. She is a longtime student of yoga and is hoping to complete her first half-marathon this fall. Liz resides in Eden Prairie with her cat, Goldie, and her wide selection of books.
