Prior to joining FMJ, Kurt served as a consulting attorney for a Fortune 500 company writing and prosecuting patent applications, interfacing with design engineers, and developing procedures to virtually mark products covered by their respective patents.

Education:
University of Illinois at Chicago (BSME)
Chicago-Kent College of Law (JD)

Bar Admissions:
Illinois State Bar
The United States Patent and Trademark Office

Practice Philosophy:
“I focus on understanding my client’s intellectual property in an efficient and timely manner. My next step is to develop a strategy to protect that IP while also minimizing the risk that the client’s IP may not be free to use. In the patent area, I encourage and assist the client to develop patentable ideas that are also free to use, which often result in increased profits and low risk.”

The Rest of the Story:
Kurt enjoys spending time with his wife, Claudine, and his two sons, Benjamin and Jude.  They are an active family and enjoy many sports including baseball, basketball, and soccer. Kurt is an avid sports fan and tries to follow Chicago sports teams. When taking a break from sports, he enjoys going to the movies, taking a cruise on Lake Michigan, or going to a museum.
