FMJ Hires Patent Attorney Kurt Fugman to Expand Intellectual Property Practice

August 2017

We recently announced that attorney Kurt Fugman has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Intellectual Property practice group. Fugman will continue his practice of intellectual property services such as drafting and managing patent applications, providing opinions involving infringement, validity, and performing searches related to the same, and client counseling involving patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark issues.

Fugman has over 20 years of combined manufacturing, engineering, and legal experience in various technical fields including, mechanical, electrical test instruments, control systems, fiber optic test instruments, plastics, and tire technologies. Recently, he has served as a consulting attorney for a Fortune 500 company interfacing with design engineers, writing patent applications, and prosecuting patent applications. He received his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law and is a licensed engineer in the state of Illinois.

“We saw the need for a patent attorney as many of our current clients have seen an increase in patent and intellectual property issues,” said Robert Fafinski, Jr., CEO of Fafinski Mark & Johnson. “Kurt’s experience in and knowledge of the patent landscape will allow FMJ to better serve current and potential clients, and help to build our intellectual property practice.”
