Home Free Shelter for Battered Women and Their Children

For FMJ's 9th Act of Kindness, FMJ collected used cell phones for the Home Free Shelter for battered women and their children.  Home Free has been providing services to battered women and their children since 1980. Their services include a shelter, 24-hour crisis line and community advocacy. The mission of Home Free is to provide battered women and their children with safety, support and information so they have an opportunity to explore alternatives to living with a violent partner.

FMJ attorneys and staff donated 34 used cell phones for the shelter.  More information about Home Free can be found here.

3/4 India Company Marine Unit - Afghanistan

For FMJ's 6th Act of Kindness we adopted a Marine platoon stationed in Afghanistan.  Thanks to the generosity of FMJ attorneys and staff we were able to fill and mail 50 care package boxes, one for each member of the platoon.  The boxes included items that the Marines specifically requested such as magazines, protein and granola bars, drink mixes and pens to give to the children in the villages.  Each box also included a letter from an employee of FMJ.

Update!

The Marines received their boxes during the last week of February while stationed in the Buji Bhast Pass.  The Pass is in a very remote part of Afghanistan so they have been without even the smallest of conveniences.  The timing was perfect for them to receive some treats and a reminder of home.
