Before joining FMJ, Haynor was a tax attorney with the Minnesota Department of Revenue where he advised the Commissioner of Revenue and the Attorney General on complex sales and use tax issues, litigation, and legislation, and disclosure and data practices matters. His specific experience with sales and use tax relates to nexus, sourcing, local taxes, motor vehicle excise tax, privileges of admission, the Railroad Revitalization and Regulatory Reform Act, telecommunications, charitable exempt status, accommodations intermediaries, qualified data centers, industrial machinery equipment repair, voluntary disclosure agreements, and Streamlined Sales and Use Tax issues.

Haynor earned his J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law and his B.A. in Legal Studies from Hamline University in St. Paul. Following law school, he worked as an attorney for a small tax firm in Stillwater, Minnesota.

“Nate will be a huge asset to the Transportation & Logistics practice group,” said Kevin Johnson, Head of the Transportation & Logistics practice group and Board Member of FMJ. “The Transportation industry is tremendously affected by complex tax laws that are changing constantly. To have someone like Nate that know the ins and outs of these laws and how/why they change will benefit our clients greatly.”
