Donald Chance Mark, Jr. Testifies Before Minnesota Legislature on Drone Policy

On December 12, 2014, FMJ shareholder Donald Chance Mark, Jr. testified before the Minnesota Senate and House Judiciary and Civil Law Committee in a joint hearing on the topic of drones (unmanned aircraft systems). The hearing covered public, private and commercial usage of drones and the data they collect.

Minnesota Senator Ron Latz asked Don to address drone regulations at state and federal levels, uses of drones and data gathered by them, as well as current and future legal issues.

After Don’s testimony, the following agencies and institutions spoke: the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association, the University of Minnesota (agriculture and aerospace researchers), La Sueur County, and the Minnesota Newspaper Association.

In July of 2014, FMJ launched an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) practice group that is led Don. The group offers full-service representation to individuals and businesses that operate, manufacture, buy, lease, sell or insure UAS.
